It’s the tiny details that make it

English in between

That we are affected by small things are well known and that the little things can make work many times harder, each one surely understand.
A practical proof that it is so, I received yesterday when we proceeded to fence off a new pasture.
Our land is hilly, which means that it is not possible to put fences as you do when it comes to field work.
Our sheep are also special. An attempt to fence in our Rya ewes with electric wire failed miserably so it is not conceivable. The ewes with there long and thick wool just went straight through electrical wires without reacting in the slightest.
Fencing with us means sheep fences. Sheep fences must be stretched to serve and need staples for holding the fence in place.
There are staples that are the problem.
As usual, we buy things on the internet (as we ourselves sell online but not similar products). What we bought were staples.
Staples are available in several sizes and prices. We need many, when we are  fencing, and it’s convenient to have them almost to the door.
But staples can apparently look different and have more or less nail-friendly tips.
The staples I bought did not have the round shape of the bend as I am used to and the tips were not pointed, cut with a tool that did not work as it should,   one  tip could be abruptly cut off the second something better pointed.

The staple to the left is of a kind I like, the one to the right is the one not so god

A person like me who want functional tools and materials to work with, easily become frustrated by things that could be better.
What should’ve gone out easily took three to four times as long as it should have done.
Why then?
Because the non rounded  bend made that if you hit the staple wrong the  legs split and went not into the pole as it should.
I often hit the staple in a wrong way doe to  the nonexistent tips.
Many staples ended up on the ground where they definitely are not allowed to be left when the sheep graze.
So I ended up crawling around on ”four feet” to find staples that dropped down among the grasses and other plants.

One should not ”swear” but I can say that the words that came out of my rose-red mouth is not printable.
If  the staples  had worked as they would,  the hilly land complicated the work in it’s own.
We draw the fence using a tool that is attached perpendicular to the fence wires. This tool is fastened with straps in a chain hoist which in turn is attached to a tree that can withstand the forces  when streching the fence properly.
The band attached at the bottom and top of the tool must in turn be applied to the chain hoist at an angle that allows stretching both the under- and overpart of the fence.
It is usually in an area be between two and five centimeters, where placing the hook one cm wrong means that one part of the fence is not stretched but the other one is awesome.
Poor DH who hade to shift position on draft countless times before hammer-madam was satisfied.
We did not come as far as we had thought but it will surely come more days whithout rain – it is said.
