Finally nice weather after all this rain. What fits where better than to go out into the woods. We have some places we usually harvest about every two years to get our stock of dried mushrooms loaded.
So, on with the boots, bring your basket loaded with paper bags for collection of fungus for  dyeing and ensure that hubby has a lot of mushroom storage container with him and then leave.
That is no great deal for us because our farm is next to the forest. This year it was unfortunately a little harder to reach the places we usually visit.
All the rain has made the tracks of forest machines  like water-filled pools and shrubs which grow  in the machine tracks are at times impenetrable. So we have to quickly try to get through the chaparral to get to the old-growth forest.
Old-growth forest is forest that is not harvested or felled in many years and you feel like in a green room, a little fishy and with a soft moss carpet.
At one point mistress found
Cortinarius sanguineus,
oh so desirable because with them you can dye red.
They grow well compiled and at well-chosen locations and are barely visible where they stand with their hats hidden halfway down in the bear moss.

Blodspindelskivling   – Cortinarius sanguineus

Några fler blev det.
There were some more.

These will probably  be enough for 4-6 oz of yarn. I’ll use handspun yarn when the fungus is so hard to find.
We also picked Funel chantarell, yellow foot.

Trattkantareller ca 13 liter + vanlig gul kantarell  – Funel chantarelle, yellow foot  (about  3 gallons) and chantarelle

Detta är vad som blev kvar;

In the end we had to leave the wood and and head for home. Our walk in the woods took three and a half hours but the distance was only four miles, but what miles. We have climbed the cliffs, gone through bogs, climbed over the fallen (and felled) trees, got stuck in brambles, struck after moosefly’s and had a lovely afternoon together hubby, mistress and Shepherd dog Nellie.
Once returned home hubby cleaned the fungus while mistress knitted with handspun yarn. What she knitted  you will know later. F
or the sake of simplicity drying the mushrooms were made in the oven.
This is what was left;
